FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered.

How long are sessions?

Initial visits and follow-ups are 60 minutes, one-on-one with Dr. Alex from start to finish. Movement & Performance Assessments are 90 minutes. Every session is uninterrupted — evaluation, treatment, and programming in a single visit.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

No. California has direct access, so you can start with Dr. Alex without a referral. If imaging or a specialist consult becomes useful along the way, he'll point you in the right direction.

Do you take insurance?

This practice is cash-based. You'll receive a superbill you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. The trade-off: longer sessions, no quotas, and care designed around you — not your plan's billing rules.

What if I've tried PT before and it didn't work?

That's the most common backstory I hear. Traditional PT often hands you a sheet of generic exercises and rotates you between aides. The work here looks different — 1-on-1 throughout, hands-on treatment when it's the right tool, and progressive programming designed around what you're actually trying to do.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you're working through. After your first visit, you'll have a clear sense of the plan, the milestones, and roughly how long it will take. The goal isn't to keep you on the schedule — it's to get you confidently back to your life.

Can you help if I'm not in pain but want to prevent injury?

Yes. The Movement & Performance Assessment is built for exactly that — a deep look at how you move before something breaks down, followed by a program that addresses what shows up.

What should I bring to my first session?

Wear something you'd train in. Bring any imaging or recent reports if you have them, and a brief sense of your training and what you're trying to get back to. We'll cover the rest.

Do you offer house calls or virtual sessions?

House calls are available by contact. Hands-on care is core to how I work, so the most value comes from being in the same room — but reach out and we'll figure out the right fit for your situation.
